The Unite for Change Committee (“we,” “our,” or “the Committee”) is committed to protecting the privacy of our members and respecting the confidentiality of personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and disclose information in accordance with Canadian privacy legislation, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

We collect only the information necessary to support this member-led initiative. Information collected may include:

Intent for change, as indicated through surveys or forms
Providing a phone number is optional and is not required in order to participate, receive information, or be included in committee communications.
Providing other personal information is voluntary, though necessary to participate in committee activities, surveys, or communications.

2. Purpose of Collection
Personal information is collected and used solely to:

Communicate with members about committee activities and updates

Provide factual information regarding union representation and member rights

Explain how members are protected by law throughout the process

Organize meetings, information sessions, and outreach efforts
Information is not used for commercial purposes or any purpose unrelated to the Committee’s mandate.

3. Consent
By submitting personal information, members consent to its collection and use for the purposes outlined in this policy. Consent may be withdrawn at any time by contacting the Committee, with the understanding that doing so may limit future communication.

4. Protection of Information
The Committee takes reasonable steps to protect personal information against loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, or alteration. Access to information is limited to authorized Committee members who require it to fulfill their responsibilities.
5. Use and Sharing of Information
All personal information collected remains with the Unite for Change Committee and is not sold, traded, or rented.
Information will be shared with OPSEU only at the time an official application to change bargaining agents is filed, and only to the extent required to support that application. Information is not shared prior to this stage and is not disclosed for any other purpose.
Information may also be disclosed if required by law or shared in an aggregated, non-identifying manner that does not reveal individual identities.
6. Retention of Information
Personal information is retained only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected or as required by law. When information is no longer required, it is securely deleted.
